Family Employment Awareness Training (FEAT)
FEAT is a powerful opportunity for:
Kansas families, youth, and young adults (ages 13–24) with any disability
Individuals who care for and support them in their journey toward adulthood
Participants will:
Hear directly from youth and young adults who have successfully transitioned to employment
Identify their strengths, interests, and employment goals
Learn how to work while keeping needed benefits
Connect with agencies and people who can help them reach their goals
Explore postsecondary education options, independent living skills, and community supports
Special CHASE Youth Sessions will offer breakout activities just for youth and young adults—focusing on goal setting, identifying passions, and planning for the future.
Attendees will also hear from two dynamic panels:
A Youth & Young Adult Panel sharing personal stories of success
An Agency Panel featuring representatives from VR, Pre-ETS, the Workforce Center, the Center for Independent Living, and a Benefits Specialist
Please note: Childcare is not provided. Youth needing one-on-one support may bring a helper or parent to assist.
We encourage families to bring a teacher, case manager, family member, or anyone who is part of their youth’s journey.
FEAT is a free 2-day training for families, youth, young adults, and others who believe that competitive integrated employment is possible, including for individuals who have disabilities.
Join us to learn about services, programs, and supports available to support gaining and maintaining employment for youth/young adults who have disabilities. We will share strategies for using person-centered planning to individualize transition services in the IEP and employment outcomes.
